Frontera Grant

In 2009 and in 2010 Lake Breeze Organics was very fortunate to be the recipient of the Frontera Farmer Foundation Grant for small farmers bringing produce to the Chicago area.

There are many grants out there but there are none that compare with the generosity of the Frontera Farmer Foundation. This grant allows the farmer to create their own plan for farm improvements. The funds allocated to the recipients of the grant are used directly for what the farm needs most. Most grants are not flexible and don’t appeal to the majority of small famers. The Frontera grant is something that is needed by all small farmers struggling with the enormous costs of infrastructure needed to survive.

Thanks to Frontera we have been able to complete our infrastructure at Lake Breeze Organics allowing us to successfully compete with larger established farms.  Grant programs like Frontera have a direct impact on local food quality and diversity. By supporting small specialty crop farmers they create more local food options for the entire Chicago area.
